Gate City coach Scott Vermillion was named Lonesome Pine District Coach of the Year and Josh Kilgore, Jamie Hackney and Tihlee Anderson each were chosen to the All-LPD boys' basketball team, selected the by the coaches.

Vermillion led his team to an unbeaten conference record (14-0) and the LPD tournament title. The Blue Devils lost to Twin Springs in the Region D semifinals in three overtimes and finished 20-5.

Kilgore, a senior, suffered a knee injury that kept him out of post-season play. Hackney is a sophomore and Anderson a freshman and return next season, along with several other members of this year's team.

Sophomore Cody Salyers also made the team as an honorable mention.

J.I. Burton's Lorenzo Miles will selected as the Player of the Year.
